Expert Dementia Care
Offering two levels of dementia care, we begin with a thorough medical, social and psychiatric evaluation of each resident, so that our nursing team can develop an Individualized Service Plan and Daily Life Plan to better understand and honor each resident’s unique needs, preferences, habits and interests. Our dementia programs are located in a warm, safe, cheerful physical environment that allows residents the freedom to wander and partake in activities as they choose. It’s an ideal social setting for interacting with other residents and staff. Our comprehensive activities program is designed to provide interest-specific activities for each resident to maximize participation and socialization. Whether it’s planting a garden, exercising, baking or participating in current events – there’s always wonderful opportunities to enjoy every day to it’s fullest. Staff who work on our dementia programs are hand-selected
and put through a rigorous dementia training program, including “Personal Care
Basics”, “Dementia Concepts”, “Approaching Persons with Dementia”, “Communicating
with Dementia Residents” and “Best Practices in Dementia Care”. Every year Morningside staff also attends The
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine’s Annual Update on the Treatment of
Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders. |
