THE ARBORS AT BUCK RUN ASSISTED LIVING PREPARES TO OPEN THE FIRST
MEMORY CARE ASSISTED LIVING COMMUNITY IN PENNSYLVANIA
October 11, 2011 [Feasterville-Trevose, PA] Following the successful opening of the first licensed assisted living community at 1730 Buck Road, Feasterville, Pa., The Arbors at Buck Run is preparing to open its secure memory care community in early November at the same location.
The Arbors at Buck Run was the first supportive living community to receive the State’s new assisted living licensure offering residents a new option in long-term care; this new licensure, put into effect in January 2011, is designed to help seniors remain in the community longer and offers a first-time ever alternative to personal care and nursing home care in a residential community setting.
The Arbors at Buck Run plans to open its brand-new secure memory care community in November. It is also expected to receive the assisted living licensure and will provide the specialized care, security and unique programming from which residents with cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia would benefit. It is anticipated that The Arbors at Buck Run will be the first memory care community to receive the assisted living licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.
“This is an exciting time for our residents, families and staff,” says Kathy Rhoad, LPN, AL, executive director of The Arbors at Buck Run. “Our memory care community, Memory Lane, is a much-needed resource in the area, one that is already being well-received by the community.”
Memory Lane is a warm, nurturing residential environment designed to meet the specific needs of residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia, including specially-designed, secure outdoor courtyards, uniquely designed apartments, and professionally selected décor crafted to create a calming atmosphere. The experienced staff is also receiving specialized ongoing training in order to provide the best care experience for residents with memory care challenges.
The Arbors at Buck Run will host a Housewarming Celebration on Thursday, October 13, 2011, from 4:30-6:30 pm at Memory Lane, 1730 Buck Road, Feasterville, Pa. Tours will be available and the staff will be on-hand to meet prospective residents, their families, and community members. Morningside House named as Chamber’s Community Leader
In supporting their commitment to “help nonprofits communicate their mission & values …”, the Loudoun Chamber’s NonProfit Initiative (NPI) has selected yet another “Community Leader” – Morningside House of Leesburg – to celebrate for their outstanding support of one local nonprofit organization.
The impactful nomination to honor Morningside House of Leesburg was submitted by The George C. Marshall International Center at Dodona Manor, whom Morningside has closely supported since 2010.
Morningside House of Leesburg, an assisted living community since 1993, ‘offers the perfect mix of personal care and hospitality tailored to meet the individual needs of [their] residents’. Their facilities are nestled in the heart of historic Leesburg, not too far from Dodona Manor, and they pride themselves on offering a ‘warm, home-like environment’ for seniors.
Executive Director, Maureen Clarke said Morningside House first began giving back to the community during the decline of the economy, when they noticed many local organizations struggling financially. Clarke stated, “Morningside House opted to use money earmarked in our advertising budget for local community focused organizations as we recognized that giving back to the community was far more important than placing print ads.”
According to Clarke, local organizations contact Morningside House and whom they support is decided upon by a voting process. Dodona Manor’s work supports continuing the legacy of George C. Marshall and his many contributions to American History. Morningside believes that the work they do every day celebrates the legacy of their own residents’ interests.
Over the past two years, Morningside House has generously contributed to Dodona Manor’s Marshall Immersion Workshop, International Student Exchange Program, Annual Benefit Event and first-ever Annual Easter Egg Hunt in April. Morningside’s mission supports a number of other local nonprofits through their C.A.R.E project – “committed to achieving results every day”.
Clarke feels that Morningside also highly benefits from serving so many nonprofits because giving back has provided ‘wonderful volunteers from the community to enrich the lives of [their] residents’. “Leesburg is a close knit community and we feel that Morningside House is part of the family”, Clarke said. “When the family is in need, we like to be able to help out our neighbors.”
